Mission / Eesmärk

  • Provide a permanent and nature-centered home for Estonian Boy Scouts and Girl Guides in the U.S. to conduct their camps and as a haven for promoting and preserving Estonia´s cultural identity among our Estonian youth.
  • Unite all Associations for the Advancement of Estonian Youth in the U.S. for the purpose of providing Estonian scouting with economic assistance, executing joint activities, cultivating ethnic solidarity, directing and supervising youth activity, and providing liaison with other like-minded organizations on a world-wide basis.
  • Organization established September 5, 1954

Järvemetsa Campgrounds / Järvemetsa Laager

  • Owned and operated by FAAEY (aka ESGSSL)
  • Initial 27 acres were purchased in May 1956
  • 85 acres of beautiful cedar, pine and birch forests, a lake fed by two streams, and “Lakewoodi valge liiv”
  • Buildings include: Peamaja, Peaköök, Pipra Pood, Saun, Skaudimaja, Gaidimaja, Postkontor
  • Hosted thousands of 1st/2nd/3rd generation boy scouts and girl guides from around the world since 1957
  • Located at 71 Olev Drive, Jackson, NJ 08527
  • Järvemetsa Preservation Fund established Aug 2014
